Hi everyone,
I've been asked to design a poster for a biotech company, which they
will print and distribute at an upcoming conference. They estimated
that they would print about 300 posters for this conference, but they
would make them available to people upon request after that, and they
may use it for other conferences. It would also be visible on their
website.
I am still relatively new to this, but I did some research on
calculating estimates for pricing, and consulted the Graphic Artists
Guild Handbook. I will retain ownership of the image, but give them
unlimited usage for print and web for one year. They wouldn't
re-sell it, and they will cover the costs of printing.
What I came up with was : (hourly rate x hours spent on the project) x 2
Does this seem unreasonable? Should the fee for usage be more like
50% of the labor cost? Am I completely off-base? I feel uneasy about
the x 2, but as I understand it, feeling uneasy about pricing is very
normal.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Mary
