I personally have found that eating meals on campus Sunday through Wednesday is wise (it sounds like it should be good food). With all the activity and special events, I don't want to have to stray far to get my food. (of course wed. lunch is already included in the core fee, and the banquet covers Wed. Dinner).
I then switch to breakfast and lunch for the remaining days with the knowledge that if I am on an all day field trip that has lunch, they will adjust my total. And dinners are usually party time or night out on the town, so I save my cash.
If you are someone who can forego a meal now and then, then skimping on breakfast or lunch every other day starting about Tue or Wed. is a decent plan, you will have had time to acquire some table fruit, or found a ride to the store to stock up a food stash- enough to see you through.
Hi Kristie and everyone else with the same question - Here's the meal deal.
As I understand it, in June, I must report to the college who will be eating which meals in the Greenery Cafeteria... they'll issue some sort of meal ticket that will be in your packet when you register. I must also give them a count of how many people will be at each meal so they prepare enough food for everyone... but not over-prepare.
There is a small "grab-and-go" food shop that is open each day until around 2pm. My experience with that shop (when I taught workshops at Evergreen) was that they have cold sandwiches and wraps, cold salads, yogurt, bananas... apples... juices, milk, tea, coffee... can't remember if they had soup to heat in a microwave... enough for a grab-it-and-go lunch... but certainly not the variety available in the Greenery Cafeteria.
If you are staying on-campus, each suite has a fridge and microwave... which could make a difference in your meal planning as well.
