Hello all,
I’m in the middle of contract negotiations on a relatively complex project and I think it may be time to bring in a lawyer (so the room full of lawyers on the client’s end will actually respect me in conversation). There is NIH grant money involved, and the resulting work will in large part be released to the scientific and research community under a form of Creative Commons license (broad, free use, under certain guidelines)… it’s an atypical ask, but the client itself is a major hospital with a legal/contracts team intent on bullying all creative into a work-for-hire scenario (which I like to avoid on principle, but especially so in this case, as I’m already agreeing to give away a substantial amount of value).
Does anyone have any recommendations for a lawyer specializing in this type of consult? I know I’ve seen at least one IP lawyer speak at a past conference, but if anyone has personal experience with someone they like, I’d be grateful for the reference. Please feel free to contact me off list if you’d like to keep it confidential.
Many thanks,
-Natalya
