I just saw this too Stoney. And I've met Nick at a local GNSI meeting. He does beautiful work. It is great to get our field acknowledged, but the article glosses over the fact that most of the Departments, Invertebrate Zoology included no longer employ staff illustrators. The number of staff scientific illustrators across all the Departments has dwindled to essentially 3. I don't count as I am a USDA employee. Its a shame that Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History as a whole is not that supportive and understanding of how much imagery and good illustration can bring to science and science communication. Grump grump grump.
