Hope you can join us Tuesday for our next presentation in DC. All are
welcome. Food and Drinks as well!
Mark it on your calenders!
February 17: Bob Tope's Adventures. Bob has rescheduled to tell us about his
adventures last summer out West and to share ideas for making art adventures
pay for themselves, such as artist residencies in parks and guiding wilderness
trips. We'll be treated to both videos and slides.
Please note the March meeting date was mis-reported in some places the real
date is still the 3rd Tuesday of the month.
March 17: Computer Illustration and the World Wide Web. George Venable,
veteran entomological illustrator and Mac guru of the Smithsonian, will
demonstrate creating illustrations digitally and using illustrations on the
Web. Even those of us who don't use computers may have our art published on
the Web, and George will tell us how to plan for digital use.
April 21: Panel discussion: Degree Programs in Scientific and Medical
Illustration. Panelists from several formal educational programs in our region
and around the country will talk about their experiences, curricula, and how
school prepared them for their careers. Learn about the opportunities open to
aspiring illustrators and get a perspective on formal education in our field.
May 19: Notes from the Caribbean: Taina Litwak will report on the January
Guild workshop in the Cayman Islands taught by Cindy Shaw and Frank Ippolito.
The workshop includes sketching underwater while snorkeling, underwater
photography, researching reef biology for a magazine spread, and mixed media
techniques for achieving underater effects using gouache, airbrush, and acryl
Meetings are free and open to all and are held at 5:30 p.m. on the third
Tuesday of the month. They are held in the Waldo Schmitt Room of the Museum of
