Greater NY GNSI Chapter & interested others:
There is a wonderful show of scientific illustration at the Main
of the New York Public Library culled from NYPL's amazing rare book
collection. Not to be missed-- features William Harvey (1st treatise
circulation of blood), Copernicus, Robert Hooke's Micrographia,
Edward Lear ("first illustrated work of ornithology devoted to a single
family of birds", Psittacidae), Vesalius and tons more.
The show runs through 19 Feb, 2000. A companion catalogue is
A series of lectures has been running concurrently. The next one is
Nov 22 - Michio Kaku: "Visualizing the Invisible: Hyperspace and and
Origin of the Universe". $10.

yet seen, so can't comment on these):

checked out private tour for us. Costs $7/person (for groups of 10 or
. Dec is already booked, but they said they could prob set something
anyway. However, they don't have a space for us to meet. If still

Speaking of MTG PLACES. I can offer the meeting room in my coop bldg.
Nothing fancy, its in the basement, but seats at least 50, costs $30. I
located at 108th St and Fifth Ave in Manhattan, at the north end of
Park and the edge of Spanish Harlem. This is 2 blocks from the
Gardens (can do this for ASBA, too), and 2 blocks the other way to the
Discovery Center (CP's Nature Ctr).
