Thanks, Jim. In frustration I just panned through the colors to pick what I needed. Numbers it shall be, which is certainly a lot quicker. By the way, the supposed selenium toning didn't look like a selenium toned print to me, so I went back to a quadtone I've used before that just adds richness to the print without injecting a pronounced hue. The prints I toned with selenium back when appear mostly black with a slight aubergine tone. I'll have to work up my own formula I suspect.
Thanks again,
Bruce
Bruce;
It sounds like most of what you’re doing is correct:
Go to Image > Mode > Duotone
In the Duotone Options dialog box, change the Type to Quadtone
Click on each little color swatch to open the Color Picker
In the Color Picker, click on the Color Libraries button
In the Color Libraries dialog box, choose the correct color “Book” (e.g., Pantone Solid Coated)
Now here’s what you need to do differently (I’m guessing):
Don’t try to type the complete name, i.e., don’t type the word Pantone or PMS. Just type the NUMBER.
You’re not brain dead. It says Type The Name but they should really say Type The Number.
Jim

I must be mildly brain dead. I'm trying to pick colors for a quadtone aproximates a selenium-toned black and white photo print. I have the quadtone box opened but can't pick the correct Pantone color by typing it......anywhere. In the color picker box there is an instruction "Type a color name to select it in the color list." However it doesn't work, whether I try to type it with the color picker open and "Libraries" selected, or in the color selection boxes within the quadtone box.
Am I really brain dead?
