You can also do a medievalized version of their given modern name sometimes.  My son's name (Nels) is Nils in the SCA.  Nils Mikjalson, in fact.  He's basically Nels, Michael's son.  Works well because they don't forget it when you have to yell at them from across a tourney field.  LOL!

Thanks, everyone.  I was unsure if the names had to be registered and official before we can use them. It's nice to know that they don't.  My question about the kids' names came up because all thee kids have chosen names they like, but I didn't really want to take the time, research and money to register those names if I didn't have to because, let's face it, kids change their minds a lot.
