Greetings AFEEMAIL Colleagues, Perhaps some of you have heard of the Koch Foundation and its attempts to create specific learning centers/foundations at various institutions. This has been in the news in North Carolina recently, with Western Carolina University having accepted such funding and now hiring several faculty sympathetic to and willing to work at such a foundation. I had the opportunity to speak with the reporter that has been covering this issue. She would be interested in learning more about the economics profession and the role of groups like the Koch Foundation. If you interested in sharing some insight, please feel free to get in touch with her: Becky Johnson <[log in to unmask]> Here are a few of her articles. This is an ongoing issue at WCU, so I imagine that more will be written/developed. I particularly like the public record disclosures. http://www.smokymountainnews.com/news/item/17027-koch-money-at-wcu-remains-under-scrutiny http://www.smokymountainnews.com/news/item/16825-wcu-leaders-faculty-at-odds-over-koch-funded-free-enterprise-center Sincerely, Eric Hake -- *Eric R.
