The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is the largest Hispanic-serving institute in the United States with a uniquely bilingual, bicultural, biliterate academic prominence. The MM in Ethnomusicology is also offered with special focus on Mexican American Music, Greater Mexico, Border Music, and Latin America and the Caribbean. Students in the Master of Music Program may pursue a graduate certificate in Mexican American Studies, Women and Gender Studies, and/or a performance certificate in Mariachi Music. Students at the undergraduate level can take courses in World Music, Latin American and Caribbean Musics, Mexican Folk Music, and Popular Music Studies.

 

Applications are accepted year round and prospective students are encouraged to apply at least 2 months before classes start to ensure a timely application review.  Applying early will also give prospective students the best opportunity to be considered for scholarships and other possible funding opportunities.
