Visiting Assistant Professor of Bassoon and Music History
Doctoral degree required. ABD status will be considered but doctoral degree required for visiting assistant professor rank.
Experience teaching at the college/university level required. Primary job duties will include teaching applied bassoon (music majors and minors) and being an active recruiter for the bassoon studio at SFA; and teaching music history and literature courses as assigned at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Other responsibilities may include serving on graduate thesis and comprehensive exam committees as well as related courses in bassoon methods/pedagogy/repertoire. The successful candidate will be an active professional bassoonist and will be expected to perform and undertake recruiting tours with the Stone Fort Wind Quintet, the resident faculty wind quintet. Music theory teaching experience may also be considered, depending on candidate’s qualifications. Faculty members are expected to be active as performers, in research and/or creative activities, and to be committed to fulfilling service obligations to the School of Music, College of Fine Arts, the university and the profession. Faculty are expected to embrace and maintain the spirit of collegiality that exists in the College of Fine Arts.
