I am soliciting contributions for an edited volume on Music and Identity in Venezuela with special emphasis on the second half of the twentieth century. If you are interested in contributing a chapter, please submit a preliminary abstract by Aug. 31st to the address below. Final essays are expected to be original unpublished research between 10,000-14,000 words in length (including footnotes) on topics relating to national identity and traditional, popular and/or “art” music. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome, as I am in conversation with a publisher that favors work across disciplines in its publications.
The plan at this point is to submit a book proposal to the publisher (who originally contacted me expressing an interest on the project) for approval by Sept. 5th and, upon approval, plan to have all chapters submitted by March 1st, 2021.
If you are interested and would like further information, please feel free to contact me as well.
