The Adobe sale is going on now — the whole month of November-- I think. I forgot to buy CS6 in time, back then, and had to go to subscription, but every year I renew at the sale time (something I learned from this list, thank you!). I use InDesign & PS a lot, Acrobat often & Illustrator occasionally, so I chose the “All Apps” for $360 a year (plus tax) instead of over $600.  It includes everything Adobe, so after seeing all the recent SCIART emails (thank you again!) I deleted the most recent downloads & will use the previous version I hadn’t gotten around to deleting.

I wonder if any of the other problems some of you are having are related to whether the older apps are not 64bit which Catalina & beyond require.

If you do the Adobe CC subscription, they periodically have a “sale” for $29.99/month on the Adobe suite for a year long subscription. That covers most of their product line. I think you can get a solo Photoshop subscription for $120/yr.

Hi Britt,
Thanks for the info on Affinity Photo and the status of your CS6 installation under Mojave.  I think I’ll leave things well enough alone on my 2012-based iMac (running High Sierra MacOS x-10.13.6) and with the original Photoshop CS6 installation that is present.   I had already "crossed the Rubicon” on upgrading my MacBook Pro to Big Sur (Os 11.0.1) and I don’t want to mess up things even more by attempting a downgrade.   If I eventually must get a subscription to Photoshop CC, well, I'll just do and “bit the digital bullet” (to mix in some cliches).
 
I am completely unfamiliar with Affinity Photo, so I will definitely look into it as a possible future alternative to PS.

Keeping your desktop iMac with CS6 running on it is a good idea. I've been considering purchasing a 2010 or 2012 power mac with high sierra and dedicating it to CS6 photoshop and illustrator. It would act as a backup computer in case of problems with CC. And from what I've seen the problems seem to be more and more common as Adobe continues to make inexplicable changes to justify their subscription service.
