—DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 15 MARCH 2021—

The Pacific Northwest chapter of the AMS announces its 2021 regional conference for April 23-24, 2021. This year, the conference will be virtual. The format will follow the international AMS-SMT joint conference, but with small changes.

Applicants are asked to submit talk summaries of ~600 words with selected bibliographic references.

Successful applicants will then be asked to prepare a lightning talk of approximately 10 minutes duration. This talk will be uploaded to our website in advance of the conference. It may take the form of a written paper, a video, or a “podcast” style audio-only talk (encouraged!).

The conference itself will feature several sessions on Friday and Saturday afternoons. These sessions will include readings of the submitted talk summaries, followed by a Q-A discussion between the session chair and the authors.

Talk summaries will be reviewed by the program committee (Drs. Abigail Fine, Joseph Salem, and Mark Samples). If necessary, preference will be given to applicants with a geographic association to the region (although review of the submissions will otherwise be blind). Submissions should use the subject line AMS-PNW Conference Submission. Summaries should be submitted to mvacuna -at - uvic.ca by 15 March 2021.

We look forward to hosting a fun, energized conference to keep new research circulating during this long year of social distancing!
