Please join us for a virtual discussion forum across disciplines – musicology, history, and philosophy – hosted by the German Historical Institute (DHI) in Rome.
Alessandro de Arcangelis (University College London), Stefan Berger (Ruhr-Universität Bochum), Sabine Meine (Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln), Giampiero Moretti (Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”), Sina Steglich (DHI London) and Carolin Krahn (DHI Roma) will discuss texts by August Wilhelm Ambros, Carl Dahlhaus, Friedrich Meinecke, Benedetto Croce, Fausto Torrefranca, and Walter Benjamin.
Thereby, specific notions of “music” and “history” as reflected in the authors' writings and their time will be discussed, in order to pinpoint overarching ideas that connect the two categories, as well as moments of friction, or contradiction.
For registration, please send an e-mail to: info-event -at-

The registration deadline is 18 February, 2021.
