Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Department of Music at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship. The area of disciplinary specialization is open, but the ideal candidate will be an emerging scholar or composer with evidence of professional achievement, a successful teaching record (including experience teaching music theory), and a commitment to the study of music in a liberal arts context. A Ph.D. or DMA is required by the time of appointment; the doctoral degree may have been awarded as many as five years prior to the August 2023 start date.
Duties will include a 2+1 teaching load (including courses in the music theory core for majors) and a significant scholarly or creative project culminating in a public presentation. The Department is especially interested in candidates qualified to teach in areas outside of the Western classical canon, such as popular music, rock, jazz, music and technology, film music, world music, etc.
The University of Notre Dame seeks to attract, develop, and retain the highest
quality faculty, staff and administration. The University is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and is committed to building a culturally diverse workplace.
