Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA seeks a Director of the Boston College Symphony Orchestra in a full-time, non-tenure track position as Assistant Professor of the Practice. The successful candidate will direct the Boston College Symphony Orchestra; oversee, manage and coordinate the Chamber Music program, including organizing and coaching instrumental ensembles; and supervise a program of individual lessons and its part-time faculty. The successful candidate will mentor students with an interest in performance, develop strategies for the growth of performance opportunities and teach two undergraduate courses in theory and/or music history each year. Candidates may propose other areas of teaching specialization. Duties include student advising and oversight of independent studies.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in music and be able to demonstrate an outstanding record as an orchestral conductor with notable experience in chamber music or solo performance. Candidates with at least 5 years' experience coaching and teaching at the college level preferred.
