JOB OPENING--IDEA FELLOWSHIP

Stony Brook University invites scholars, performers, and composers to apply
for the IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) Fellows Program
(2023-2024), a full-time, non tenure-track faculty position at the lecturer
level, including full benefits, to commence Fall 2023. The Fellow will be a
part of a mentored research and performance environment. At the completion
of this two-year position, Fellows with an upward trajectory of scholarly
achievement and a demonstrated contribution to inclusion, diversity, and
equity will be invited to join the tenure-track faculty at Stony Brook
University through an internal promotion process.

The Department of Music at Stony Brook is one of the participating
departments in the IDEA Fellows program. We offer degrees focusing on music
scholarship, composition, and performance. The faculty in these areas use
their expertise to provide a grounded and transformational educational
experience for undergraduate and graduate students, positioning
European-derived classical traditions as one among many musical cultures
shaping the world, including popular and jazz traditions in the US and
abroad. We are interested in scholars, creators, and performers who engage
deeply with sound and music in a world characterized by cultural contact,
disciplinary blending, and musical transformations over time and space.
