Hey Lindsey,

Jeremy is right. If you are comfortable with one sytem over the other, then
there's no reason not to stay with it. The only reason it might be
advantageous to go with MAC is if you hope to work ON LOCATION at a graphic
design studio- as they are still almost all MAC and they expect someone to
be proficient with that OS upon walking into the door. If you are going
freelance, this will not matter.

These days you will hardly return your investment by selling a used
computer. Instead, you might consider putting a 2nd machine to use. If you
are interested in animation, for instance, you could through all the
horsepower of one machine into that chore. And while it is whiring away and
rendering a scene, you could use the 2nd machine for web research or
e-mail. An added bonus of this approach is that you won't be going online
via the machine that has all your sensitive and valuable files onboard. If
you are simply doing illustration work thus far, you could still consider
using one machine strictly as a scanning station and print server. This way
you aren't left holding the ball while waiting for those chores to finish
before getting back to work.
