Those of you who are planning to stay in the dorm at The College of William and Mary should know that these are completely stripped-down rooms. No amenities as usually found in a hotel, although the dorm is fully air-conditioned and has a beautiful central lounge area with comfortable furniture (but no TV). On checking-in you will be given a linen pack that consists of 2 flat sheets, a pillow case, pillow, some towels and washcloths, 2 plastic cups, and a bar of soap. You'll share a bathroom/shower with the next room. In your room there are a only bunkbed and desks. No TV, no lamp, no clock, no coffeepot, no hairdryer, no refrigerator, no iron or ironing board, no shampoo. There is a telephone (local calls only) and there is a computer hook-up, providing you bring a cable.

You will need to bring an alarm clock or clock radio and anything else you use to make yourself comfortable. There is a 24hr. WAWA convenience store across from the University Center (UC),about 1/2 mile from the dorm, where you can buy ice, should you want to bring or buy a cooler for your room. The Commons, where meals will be served, is about 1/2 a block from the dorm in the opposite direction from the UC. If you need coffee before getting dressed in the morning, bring the fixings, the cup, and the pot.

This message is not meant to discourage you, but to prepare you. We won't be spending much time in our rooms, and they ARE air-conditioned! See you in Williamsburg!
Ginger Vaughan
