Just received two new books on botanical illustration.
Contemporary Botanical Artists, and the more
recent A Passion for Plants.
Both books about the collections of Shirley Sherwood, the patron of
the arts, who is also credited as the author.
The essays are mildly interesting but of little technical value. The
reproductions are excellent. Many
recognizable names. The paintings and drawings range from superb to
mostly very good to a few that are more glitz than substance. I highly
recommend either of these volumes for one's library. $29.95
each--almost a bargain by today's standards.
