Nature Education Knowledge Project  is a peer-reviewed wiki that will launch this fall 2010.  It will bring together a library of introductory and focused ecology concepts as well as research summaries for undergraduate students.  The Nature Knowledge series is being launched out of the newly formed Nature Education division of Nature Publishing Group (http://www.nature.com/)  This division has several initiatives to launch free online content for a worldwide audience.  You can review a similar site, Scitable, at www.scitable.com.

Overview:
Work with authors to help them create illustrations that communicate basic ecology concepts and processes   as part of their articles that will publish on the wiki.  Approximately 20 illustrations,
Photo research images from royalty free resources to accompany articles.  Approximately 75 photographs.  Provide options for author for final selection that will publish on the wiki.
Contribute to decisions on how authors will submit photographs and illustrations to the wiki.  Research and determine possible ways that artists and photographers could participate in the process.
Work with art direction to finalize the look and feel of the rendered illustrations.  Possible work developing animations and/or videos depending on time and level of experience.
Research public domain sources for illustrations and photographs and build a list of resources for wiki         authors.
As time allows, reach articles and provide feedback to authors for illustrations and photographs that authors have rendered or researched.   Feedback focused on educational value of each piece.
