Apple makes a portable CD/DVD burner/reader that retails for $79. Requires no brick, use off the USB port power. If you want to burn the newer Blu-ray disks for data storage (25GB a disk) there are a number of choices there, apple does not sell one of those.

Subject: [SCIART] External CD reader/burner
Hi All: Does anyone have a preference of an external CD reader/burner for MAC?
Which type of cable recommended? Firewire800 is probably my best bet. I don't have a seta port on my iMac.
My built-in CD is stuck, or says it's got a disk in there, Apple says take it in to a store, but I can't do that.
THanks,
Linda
