GNSI Members and friends,

For those attending the GNSI-DC presentation Friday evening, a limited number of John Gurche's book, "Shaping Humanity" will be for sale before his talk in the Constitution Lobby outside the Bookstore on the ground floor. Sales will be from 5:00PM until 6:30 PM. John will sign the books after the talk or people can bring books they have already purchased for signing. Cost is expected to be retail at $50.

PRESENTATION: To What Degree has Creativity Shaped Humanity?

Paleo artist John Gurche will explore the origins of human creativity. Is
creativity part of a larger human quality of adaptability? By examining
the archeological record, Gurche will look at the earliest examples of
symbolic behaviors like art and body ornamentation. The early record also
provides hints of the speed of cultural change, which suggest how
frequently innovations occur and are incorporated into a culture. Gurche
will elaborate on these themes, presented in his new book Shaping
Humanity, from Yale University Press.
