Has anyone on this list ever read Gerald Durrell's books about growing to be a naturalist? His My Family and Other Animals is a precious classic and will resonate with everyone in this rabbit hole. He tells of his childhood on the the Greek island of Corfu, where he enlists the locals to help build his 'zoo', and how his motley menagerie grows and dismays his poor patient mother. A terrific antidote of a book.
