Did you try a "safe boot" (it loads only certain extensions) or turn off all other programs that may be in conflict. Seems like there might be something else influencing the CS4. A plugin? extension? or somesuch.

Just a thought.
Good luck,
Linda

Hi all. HELP!

My Photoshop CS4 (on MacBook Pro, OS 10.6.8) has crashed on me 9 times today.  Happens when I am doing things in layers palette - duplicating one or changing order, a few times on jumping back thru history palette.  Ran permissions check and repair.  Ran disk verification.  Checked and installed all software updates with Apple.  Increased RAM to Photoshop to 2242.  Have only 71 GB of free space on the drive, but that should be enough as today's project files are small - 8.5 MG greyscale.

Any insights appreciated.  I know there is no sense calling Adobe, as last month when I needed help on my home system with CS4 they said they no longer supported this product.  The dogs.
