I was struck with the possibility that the father and son artists came
across as people I could relate to--less like eccentric geniuses.

I'll have to look up the drawings, I've probably seen images of them
before but not put it all together.

The Blaschka's works are amazing. In college, my botany taxonomy class
would take field trips to the Glass Flower collections at Harvard/ the
Peabody Museum and our GNSI-NE chapter regularly went there to sketch.
Cornell has some invertebrates, and the Corning Museum of Glass ( where
I am at this very moment) has some 400+ objects in their collection.

The BEST collection we have at CMoG is all Blaschka's original drawings.
One can visit the museum library, ask to see the drawings, and pour
through boxes of them ( which I have done). This collection was one of
the field trips during the GNSI Ithaca conference.

I've done a school session here at CMoG "Drawing Like the Blaschka's".
Lots of fun, especially for me.

Lovely video, and obviously some of the most extraordinary and unique
natural artwork ever made.

Were you aware of the Blaschka glass flower collection at the Harvard
Museum of Natural History? There are a few sea creature specimens in the
collections, which only make it out for exhibit very rarely, but the
flowers are always on display, and they are like nothing you've ever
seen. More than worth a trip to Cmbridge, MA, if you're within driving
distance.

Some of you are probably familiar with these models, but they are new to
