But there is less agreement on what those institutions (broadly defined as systems of established social rules) may be, especially at different stages of the process of economic development. There are also ongoing debates about whether globalization is leading to institutional convergence, or whether national institutional diversity can be maintained. We invite you to participate in the Second WINIR Conference that will bring together scholars from multiple disciplines and theoretical approaches to help develop the ongoing conversation about these and other vital institutional issues. The conference will be held in the Hotel Windsor Atlantica, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will start on the afternoon of 10 September and end on the evening of 12 September with a gala dinner. There will be an optional tour on 13 September. Abstract submissions from any discipline (300 words max.) are welcome. All submissions must be explicitly about institutions (or organisations) and/or institutional thought. Submissions should be made online at www.winir.org<http://www.winir.org/>. Abstracts will be evaluated by the WINIR Scientific Quality Committee: Peter Boettke (George Mason, economics), Simon Deakin (Cambridge, law), Geoff Hodgson (Hertfordshire, economics), Timur Kuran (Duke, economics), Uskali Mäki (Helsinki, philosophy), Katharina Pistor (Columbia, law), Sven Steinmo (EUI, politics), Wolfgang Streeck (Max Planck Institute Cologne, sociology). Keynote lectures, representing five academic disciplines, will be given by: [cid:[log in to unmask]] [cid:[log in to unmask]] [cid:[log in to unmask]] [cid:[log in to unmask]] [cid:[log in to unmask]] Robert Bates Harvard Politics Ricardo Crespo Austral Philosophy Gillian Hadfield Southern California Law Dani Rodrik Princeton Economics Viviana Zelizer Princeton Sociology IMPORTANT DATES 15 January 2015 Abstract submission deadline 13 February 2015 Notification of acceptance 14 February 2015 Registration & room bookings open 31 May 2015 Early registration & booking deadline 31 July 2015 Registration & booking deadline 1 August 2015 Non-registered authors removed from programme More information at www.winir.org<http://www.winir.org/> [cid:[log in to unmask]] Follow us @winir2013<https://twitter.com/winir2013> and #<https://twitter.com/hashtag/winir2015>winir2015
