FYI to everyone… you cannot buy Escoda brushes directly fro Escoda in Barcelona. You get a message that U.S. customers (and Canadian customers) cannot shop on the online store due to "logistics". You can buy Escoda brushes from U.S. suppliers, but I have had difficulty finding 00 brushes.

Still waiting to hear back from Cornelissen in the U.K. If I don't hear from them by early next week, I'll call. They are very helpful (I visited there a number of years ago - like a Harry Potter shop in Diagon Alley).

Thank you, Kathy. I placed an order for some Series 7 brushes on Jacksons - had no difficulty.

Jacksonsart.com in Britain carries WN Series 7 at reasonable prices and shipping is usually free on brushes.  They ship quickly and reliably.  I've done quite a few orders from them for my classes.  You don't get to test the brushes, of course, as I'd prefer, but so far haven't gotten any duds, either.

Good to know its not just me. I'm down to one Series 7 Miniature 00. Looking into brushes from Cornelissen. Years ago I liked them. Don't know if they can ship to the U.S. They also carry W&N. Waiting for a response.

The R&Co brushes are good for the price but I find myself working around what they won't do rather than what I'm trying to do.

Glad this was brought up. R&Co are great for the price but I agree, they don't have anywhere near the spring the old W/N Series 7s do. Phooey!! Has anyone tried David Jackson's brushes? He's on FB, have always wanted to try some. Just curious! He makes some interesting styles but I don't know how they would hold up to intense watercolor use.

I've tried Isabey brushes and find that they have very little spring. Haven't tried to Escoda but they're on my list. K

I'm sorry to hear that, Karen.  Have you tried Isabey or Escoda?

Some observations…

Received my order of brushes from Rosemary & Company. I find their Series 323 the closest to Winsor & Newton Series 7 Miniature. They have very sharp points and keep their points nicely. However, they do not keep their shape as you paint. When I make a stroke the brush "bends" slightly and then stays in that shape (similar to synthetic watercolor brushes I have used in the past). It does not spring back (like W&N Series 7). I will keep using the brushes to see if they improve with use, but as is, it is kind of annoying to have to keep reshaping the point between strokes.

I still can't find a brush I consider comparable to the W&N Series 7 brushes. I'll keep trying.
