Ah... I didn't blur the lines prior to using the threshold tool. I will try that. I got nothing with Threshold, no options in the slider so I think my lines must have been pretty sharp. I didn't think to blur them. I'll try that.

If you do not have thin lines smaller than 10 px in the 300dpi, you might resample to 600dpi (smoother resample setting) and blur the image a bit more if needed, then use the threshold tool to cut off some of the blurriness (line tone lighter than say 90%K) down to something thinner that what you started with.
