GNSI CONFERENCE - Santa Cruz
Join us in sunny California for the 2016 GNSI Annual Conference!
We will meet at the beautiful campus of the University of
California, Santa Cruz from July 3 - 9. The Conference Committee,

Painting on Walls: The Art and Illustrations of Jane Kim
DATE: November 17, 2015 - 5:30pm
LOCATION: Smithsonian Natural History Museum, Washington, DC
Join us at the GNSI-DC Chapters November meeting to see Jane Kim,
founder of Ink Dwell studio, creates large-format work. Using a
variety of materials while merging disciplines of fine art and
science illustration, she creates her murals and installations as
a celebration and interpretation of the natural world and a
vehicle designed to challenge how we interact with it.

Stuttgart Database of Scientific Illustrators 14501950: Making
the Invisible Hands Visible
Listings for illustrators of scientific publications of all genres
(especially atlases, articles, textbooks) who were active between
1450 and 1950, thus excluding illuminators of medieval manuscripts
as well as illustrators still active. more More than 10400
illustrators with particular emphasis on anatomy,
dermatology, botany, zoology, mineralogy, astronomy, and general
natural history. Access to the database with its 20 search fields
is free and open to all interested users.

Flora
and Fauna Illustrata (FFI) project
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (MLA) and the Andersen
Horticultural Library (AHL) are excited to begin a long-term
project, Flora and Fauna Illustrata (FFI), to document, in
scientifically accurate fine art, the plant and animal species
that occur at the Arboretum. (Ed. Note: This is a fully
volunteer project. The art and copyrights are donated in full,
without any compensation)
Northwest
Chapter Exhibit - 2015
DATE: October 14, 2015 to March 31, 2016
The GNSI Northwest Chapter has mounted an exhibition at the the
Pacific Science Center at the Seattle Center, Seattle, Washington
featuring twelve of our members who will be exhibiting gicle
prints and originals of their work. Chapter members are excited to
be able to team up with the Science Center for this exhibit.

The GNSI-Oregon Group invites you to view their exhibit entitled
Tidal Waters: The Art of Scientific Illustration at the Pacific
Maritime Heritage Center, Newport Oregon ongoing through February
21, 2016. Admission is free to members of the Center, $5 for
non-members.

In this two-day intensive workshop with guest artist Rhonda Nass,
youll create unique colored pencil works on dark paper using
natural designs. Participants will choose their own subject to
draw, then excerpt and magnify a portion of that subject for the
background.
