Thanks Gail, and everyone who responded,
I really don’t need an archival printer.  Like you, I would happily revive my old Epson.  Ironically we also have an HP “in house” ... of course that expired two days after the Epson.  Time to go shopping.

The last issue of the Journal has articles from the listserv (Rippped From the List & Archival Printing) about choosing archival printers, that may help. I love my Epson 1430, it's getting old now, but that series is nice.
