Colorful Leaves: A Coloring Book of
Artwork From Nature
by Gail Selfridge
As a long-time member of the American Society of Botanical Artists I was thrilled to receive the 2015 Anne Ophelia Dowden Award to fund the publication of Colorful Leaves: A Coloring Book of Artwork From Nature.
Colorful Leaves is the culmination of years of work in educational outreach programs for both children and adults, and it is directed to persons who want to create botanical art either for personal use, or as part of an educational program, but are unsure of how to get started.
Getting started requires an underlying image and Colorful Leaves meets that challenge by combing a selection of reproducible and/or transferrable preliminary line drawings with color inspiration from leaves found in nature. In addition there is information on how to develop scientifically accurate line drawings from materials found in your own neighborhood, a practice section with step-by-step illustrations matching colors found in nature to colors available in art materials, and a listing of all the colors/materials that were used to create the examples.
Colorful Leaves is available on Amazon. For those wanting multiple copies either for use in an outreach program or for resale, contact Gail Selfridge: [log in to unmask]
