Wow, just wow. Thanks for sharing that link to the cephalopod illustrations, Chris. They're amazing.
I am trying to figure out how Merculiano achieved such a minute and complex texture on some of those illustrations. If you click on the first one, for example, then click on "Original" in the upper right, you can get a close-up view of the reddish texture and it's mind-boggling!
