The Music Department of the College of the Holy Cross invites applications
for the position of Director of College Choirs. Holy Cross is a highly
selective Jesuit liberal arts college located in Worcester, Massachusetts,
about one hour from Boston.

The duties of the Director will include: 1) preparing and conducting weekly
rehearsals and all performances with the College Choir and Chamber Singers;
2) coordinating arrangements and extra rehearsals for all concerts; 3)
meeting with elected student leaders of the choir weekly to facilitate and
support the activities of the organization; 4) working with the Department
of Music to coordinate activities of the choirs; 5) holding regularly
scheduled office hours to meet with and be available to students.

During the academic year the candidate is also expected to devote 6-8 hours
per week in one or more of the following areas: 1) vocal ensemble coaching
(for example, a cappella groups); and/or 2) a series of master classes for
vocal students; and/or 3) musicianship labs for majors to be coordinated
with departmental faculty. If appropriate and at the discretion of the
Chair, the department may request to substitute teaching a course from the
catalog for non-majors, such as Fundamentals, in place of the coaching
duties and/or musicianship labs.

Required Qualifications: D.M.A. in Choral Conducting preferred. Candidates
with an M.A. or M.M. and relevant experience will also be considered.  Previous
experience directing choirs with diverse student populations and working
with music of diverse periods, traditions, languages, faiths, geographies,
