The UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology seeks a senior scholar for a
position with tenure at the level of Associate Professor or Professor,
depending on achievements and qualifications.

Required areas of expertise are ethnomusicology and jazz studies, with
excellence in research, publications, and teaching, in addition to
leadership skills that can be applied to further development of the jazz
studies concentration, which is administered by the department.

The Department of Ethnomusicology is one of the leading programs worldwide,
and has recently become one of three departments comprising the new UCLA
Herb Alpert School of Music. Also recently established is the department's
World Music Center at UCLA, which houses and operates the Ethnomusicology
Archive, World Musical Instrument Collection, and Ethnomusicology
Publications. Within this framework, the department envisions many new and
dynamic initiatives to develop in the coming years.

The Department seeks to recruit a diverse workforce as a reflection of our
commitment to maintain the excellence of the Department, School, and
University. All applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology
or a closely related field. Applicants are expected to have a robust
research agenda and should be prepared to teach at the graduate and
undergraduate levels.
