Glad you mentioned that, Karen. I bought my iMac there - via Best Buy's website, then picked up in the store. I noticed a sign in the store about recycling. I was told that I could bring in 1 big item per day. So I will make multiple trips to take my G4, 2 CRTs, etc. The store is close to me, so that's simple. Also, out here anyway, I know of a Goodwill that will take all computer equipment, working or not. Seems to me there are (or used to be) instructions on Goodwill's site about wiping hard drives, assuming the thing boots up. Also, my city has occasional e-cycling events at City Hall, though they are every few months and don't always come at the time when I am ready to take something. I'm guessing other cities have similar programs.

Loads of people say they take a hammer to the hard drive when they remove
it prior to recycle. I don't know what kind of hammer they use, but mine
did not dent the outside cover!!! I still have several hard drives that I
cannot destroy. (Paper weights, door stops???) Maybe ACE hardware will
rent me a sledgehammer. ha. Next is online search for figuring out how to
open the thing, I can't see how it opens to get to the innards. Ah well,
onward!
