PRECEPTOR IN MUSIC THEORY – Harvard University Department of Music


Position Description:  The Department of Music seeks applications for a preceptor in Music. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2017. The preceptor will be responsible for four courses over the academic year (two per semester), primarily in music theory at the undergraduate level. Ability to teach composition and/or to incorporate popular and/or jazz idioms into introductory theory is an asset. The Preceptor may also be responsible for teaching a theory review course for graduate students. The Preceptor will also be responsible for advising undergraduate theses and independent studies, as well as working with graduate students on pedagogical training.

The position is for one year, renewable on a yearly basis for up to eight years (within the eligibility guidelines of the FAS), contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need, position availability, and divisional dean authorization.
