The Department of Musicology in the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University announces an opening for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Musicology. Candidates with research interests in 20th- and 21st-century music and with substantial teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will be expected to 1) publish at a level consistent with a research university, 2) teach in the undergraduate music history sequence, 3) offer graduate seminars on topics that reflect ongoing research interests and complement offerings of the current faculty, and 4) advise undergraduate and graduate theses. Employment begins July 1, 2018. Required Qualifications: Completed doctoral degree in musicology, evidence of a distinguished program of scholarship, and a strong commitment to innovative and engaging teaching.
