The University of Chicago Music Department is excited to announce a two-day
symposium *Dislocations: Reassessing Ligeti’s Many Worlds in the 21st
Century* on March 7-8 2018. Following on the heels of Pierre
Laurent-Aimard’s performance on Tuesday March 6 (
http://chicagopresents.uchicago.edu/events/2017-2018/2018-03-07-013000) the
symposium convenes scholars, performers, and the interested public to think
together about dislocation, (post)modernity, music in exile, appropriation,
and Ligeti’s beguilingly paradoxical aesthetics. The full symposium
schedule is available here: http://music.uchicago.edu/ligeti-2018
