Open one and see if the metadata is in there. If you’re using Lightroom or Bridge I think you can see it. Or you can just open one in Photoshop and open “File Info”. Just don’t save any changes when closing.

I think you're right, and that would always be the case with DNGs, which is all I'd be concerned with. I don't save the raw files after a month or so. If I haven't converted them to DNGs, they get dumped.
