Dear Cather community,

The Willa Cather Society seeks proposals for a roundtable and a panel at the 30th annual conference of the American Literature Association in Boston, held from May 23-26, 2019.

The roundtable will be comprised of either four or five brief (8-10 minute) presentations dealing with some aspect of Cather’s fiction. We encourage topics that consider Cather’s novels and short stories within a broadly relevant, interdisciplinary framework. Potential topics could include (but are not limited to) Childhood Studies, Eco-criticism, Sexuality Studies, historical revisions, Native Studies, and experiences teaching Cather in the age of Black Lives Matter and the resurgence of anti-immigrant rhetoric.

The panel seeks three proposals for longer (15-20 minute) papers dealing with any aspect of Cather’s life and work.

Please submit abstracts of approximately 200 words for the roundtable and 300 for the panel no later than January 4, 2019 to Sarah Clere at [log in to unmask]. Please attach your abstract as a Word document and paste the text into your e-mail message.
