The University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2019. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D.
in historical musicology at time of appointment; excellence in college-level teaching as demonstrated by service as a faculty member and/or teaching assistant/fellow; an active research agenda; expertise in popular music, film music, and/or music and media
as evidenced in a PhD dissertation and/or scholarly publications. Preferred qualifications: engagement with recent theoretical approaches to popular music, film music, and/or music and media; emphasis in voices and communities traditionally marginalized in
narratives of music history; experience in on-line or blended course development. Duties will include: developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in popular music, film music, and/or music and media; teaching occasional courses in Western music
history; pursuing collaborations with colleagues throughout the College of Music specializing in popular and commercial music, jazz, and/or music and media; maintaining an active program of research and scholarly publication; recruiting students into the graduate
program in music history; serving on undergraduate and graduate advisory committees (BM, MA, PhD, and DMA); serving on divisional/college/university committees; and other duties as assigned by the Division and/or College. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications
