The Schulich School of Music of McGill University is Canada’s leading university-based program for the training of professional performers and composers, and for humanities-based and scientific research in music and sound. We seek individuals with an international profile who will maintain a high level of professional activity and are able to teach and supervise advanced students in all university undergraduate, graduate and diploma programs through to the professional level. We invite applications for a tenure-track position in Historical Performance Practice and Musicology, held jointly in the Departments of Performance and Music Research at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, for an initial 3-year appointment beginning August 1, 2019.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

Completed doctorate preferred; ABD with expected 2020 completion will be considered. Candidates should demonstrate an active profile as both a performer and a researcher, and have significant instrumental teaching experience. Baroque violin performance specialization and 17th/18th- century research focus preferred. Other instruments and areas of musicological research will be considered.

·        The names and contact information of three referees. For Tier 2 nominees at the rank of Assistant Professor who are within three years of their PhD, one referee must be the PhD supervisor.

 

The application deadline is January 9, 2019. Short-listed candidates will be invited to give teaching demonstrations in performance and music history, give a short recital and a research presentation, and meet with members of the search committee.
