I had seen something about this collection before but this is a lovely article.
Glad the mangosteen is a favourite. They are in season here now. Do you get them in the US? Sometimes in winter you can get them here, imported from Thailand.
I love the flavour, like a cross between mandarin and a lychee. I also love the little wooden flower-like structure on the bottom. When I worked in the old Queensland Museum building our fabulous library spilled down the corridor. There were a couple of wonderful books, “The Cherries of New York” and “The Pears of New York”. I thought they were paintings but when I searched they look like hand-coloured photographs. I will have to look at work tomorrow.
