Thanks Deb—that’s a great point. If even one of the uses is for embroidery, it’s important to get a maximum thread count for figuring out a price.

Sometimes an intricate illustration or design has to have multiple iterations to finalize so it “reads well” within the thread count specifications. Obviously, the more stitches and more different colors the more expensive it is to produce :-)

Good luck!

Stephen if this is for a hat it might be embroidery so you would want thread specs and keep to very clean design.  Just another thought upon rereading.

Thanks Deb

I hadn't considered printers would use an hourly rate (not that I would use one)  I will most definitely need to be in communication with the printers about design file parameters...

I am currently reviewing approaches of negotiation with my College art business prof.  He's such a great help.  I wound up ordering a new GAG guideline...   never get more than one or two uses out of these, but...

Stephen,
From my experience T shirt companies with in-house artist charge an hourly rate. I think you may need to figure out time and base it off how many shirts run. I would also want to speak with the printing company to figure out print specs.

Hi

I am looking for input  about a design charge for designing a tee
shirt..  I am pulling together a license/agreement for a teeshirt design
I have been approached to do for a Fishing derby.

I tried to find out what the non profit was charged by the printers for
a design fee, but its not available knowledge on their website....

Don't want to scare them...   but would like applicable
compensation...   and will include some ID requirements for publicity in
the deal..

Thanks

Stephen
