Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the Tasso and Music Symposium, which will take place via Zoom on April 17-19. Sponsored by the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the symposium will convene music historians and literary scholars to explore the musical legacy of late sixteenth-century poet Torquato Tasso. The symposium is inspired by the Tasso in Music Project (www.tassomusic.org), a digital edition of the early modern settings of Tasso’s poetry, directed by Emiliano Ricciardi and funded by a 3-year NEH Scholarly Editions and Translations Grant.
