The editorial board of the Society for Textual Scholarship’s peer-reviewed,
open access journal *Textual Cultures: Texts, Contexts,
Interpretations *solicits
papers for a group of essays on music-related topics to be published in its
Fall 2020 issue (vol. 13, no. 2). With this group of essays, the journal
seeks to represent a variety of topics related to the production,
reproduction, interpretation, and reception of musical texts and archives
from a wide range of genres, cultures, and time periods.

*Textual Cultures* provides an interdisciplinary forum for scholarship
dedicated to issues of material cultures, cultural-textual studies,
textuality, and editing in all national traditions. The journal invites
essays from music scholars around the world in English, French, German,
Spanish, and Italian. Potential topics and/or themes could include (but are
not limited to):
• Codicological and/or paleographic analysis of music manuscripts
• Sketch studies
• Intertextuality studies
• Challenges in music editing
• Music–text relations in manuscript and print sources
• Musical archives
• Oral performance versus written score
• Music texts in the digital sphere
Interdisciplinary approaches to musical texts and textuality within larger
cultural contexts are particularly welcome.

Submissions are subject to the journal’s regular double-blind peer review
process, as well as its style and procedural guidelines, outlined here
