The Center for American Music, a branch of the Archives and Special Collections Department at the University of Pittsburgh, is pleased to offer Zoom or Skype consultations on the Center’s digitized archival collections. The foundation of the Center’s materials is the Stephen Foster Collection. The collection includes historical editions of all of Foster’s known compositions, manuscripts of music and lyrics, correspondence, account books and business records, photographs, clippings, documentation of the personal and professional activities of Foster’s family members, and more. The Center’s other collections emphasize nineteenth-century American cultural history, with minstrelsy being a particular strength. Materials of interest include sheet music, playbills, and broadsides.
