The Queens College (CUNY) MA in Musicology, Music Theory, & Composition provides an exceptional foundation in graduate study. As the nation’s premier urban public university, the City University of New York offers a quality education at an affordable price. The Queens College MA brings together the resources of a conservatory program and an excellent research library at the Aaron Copland School of Music, the doctoral facilities of the CUNY Graduate Center, and the wider musical and academic riches of New York City. Classes focus on critical thinking, disciplinary literacy, and recent trends in music scholarship. Students work closely with faculty members to develop their research skills and written fluency, and the degree culminates in a second-year thesis or portfolio. The MA program is being specially adapted to meet the needs of students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recent graduates have gone on to doctoral programs at the University of Bristol (UK), Florida State University, Princeton University, Western University (formerly University of Western Ontario), the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the CUNY Graduate Center.
Applications for the Fall semester will be accepted until June 1. Fellowship/Assistantship support is available up to the full cost of in-state tuition for a limited number of qualified applicants.
